Facebook

Facebook, one of the newest online communities, is amazingly intrusive. It tells you every move that you and your friends make within the site. I love it. It's like watching "Big Brother" but an online version of it.

Imagine... I updated my profile a few weeks ago (I left it blank as I was lazy to do anything with it upon sign-up) and when I selected "single", the summary that appeared on all my friend's welcome page showed that I have changed my status to "single". So everyone thought I secretly got married and decided to divorce. Haha.

I haven't gotten around to all the organised chaos of the site (i.e. features such as stripper name and answering wacky surveys) ; will attempt to join in the fun at some point. I just hope they don't make it as complicated as MySpace which is now becoming to be a platform for budding artists.

Join Facebook and make sure you upload a photo on your profile! Your face looks much better than a question mark which they place as default for blank albums.

Rain Rain Go Away

I went on a business trip to Manila in mid-August and fortunately escaped a strong typhoon that hit central Luzon (the largest archipelago) which led to a few flights being cancelled. While the weather in Singapore last weekend was not really worth jumping for, I was still glad to have just chilled out at home and met up with a few friends.

Here are some photos from the tropical cyclone that hit the Caribbean (around the same time as the weather chaos in Asia). Scary.

This was meant to be a horizontal road barrier (similar to a security checkpoint).

I was really moved with pity when I saw this photo. Please make sure you look after your pets especially during a storm.

When is the Next Boardgame Afternoon Party

It is only here in Singapore that I have developed an interest in boardgames. It started when I was invited by a few local friends to check out this cafe that has a lot of boardgames that customers can borrow and play there.

I've played Taboo and Pictionary in recent years and Scrabble, Chess, Boggle, Bingo and Games of the General when I was still even younger but in this day and age, boardgames have become more sophisticated and more catered to the party crowd.

So when I went to London in August last year, I visited Hamley's, a popular toy shop (yes, to explore my inner child) and got exposed to heaps of such stuff. I bought "Get a Letter" and "Humm Bug" and a battery operated card shuffler!

This month I ordered a few more boardgames online and the items have already arrived.
