Microsoft Windows Vista

There has been so much hype about Windows Vista, the new Microsoft operating system (to replace Windows XP) that I decided to try the upgrade kit. Also bought Microsoft Office Home & Student and Windows Live One Care (antivirus and anti-spyware).

The installation was rather painful. I had to look up a few stuff over Google which I haven't heard before (i.e. NTFS formatting for hard drive, DEP, etc) that I was relieved to see the Windows Vista logo after a few hours. I was also disappointed that there seemed to be a conflict between the new OS and (read this) Microsoft Live Messenger which occupies at least 50% of my online time.

After spending almost an entire afternoon viewing around 50 pages worth of links, I gave up before I decide to turn the software DVDs into mini flying saucers.

On the positive side, I am beginning to enjoy the new look and feel of Windows Vista. I prefer not to complicate my life just yet so will work my way through the features in the coming days.

My contribution to Microsoft's turnover this year is equivalent to a roundtrip Economy ticket somewhere at least 3.5 hrs away from Singapore so this set of new programs has to deliver as promised. Otherwise, I will impose that Bill Gates send me a set of roundtrip Business Class ticket to the US (which can be truly afford) as payment for wasted time and energy.
